STOP DOING BACKLINK BUILDING and SEO THE WRONG WAY-
Let’s show you how backlink building and SEO work in this era.
Building backlinks is an important aspect of search engine optimization (SEO) as it helps to improve the search engine rankings of your website.
Every great content you write will have links pointing to it. Your content should also point to some other links. It’s a standard practice if you want to get noticed with your content.
But it’s not easy work. I tried many times and failed, and tried again until I figured it out. That’s why I am handing you A Complete Guide On How I solved the Problem of backlinks and SEO.
But first,
What is a backlink?
A backlink is a link created by a webpage referring to another web page in a different location. For instance, If I link to your webpage from this article, the link becomes a backlink to your page.
The word backlink is used interchangeably with “inbound links” or “incoming links.” So, don’t get confused when you hear it mentioned whether here or elsewhere, they all mean the same thing.
Backlinks are important to SEO because they help search engines like Google determine how trustworthy and authoritative your website is based on how many other websites link to it. The more high-quality backlinks you have pointing to your site, the more Google and other search engines see it as a vote of confidence.
It doesn’t matter what type of business you do online as long as you own a website, you need backlinks to rank.
Whether you are an
- affiliate Marketer,
- Freelancer,
- Youtuber, or
- you want to start a Blog or anything at all, once you own a website or blog, your next action is to build quality SEO backlinks.
Although you can make money online without a website, this article is purely for those who have an active website.
WHAT IS BACKLINK BUILDING?
On the other hand, backlink building is the process of acquiring links from other websites to your own. These links act as a “vote of confidence” for search engines, indicating that other websites consider your content to be valuable and relevant.
I like to say that backlinks are the currency of the web.
As a result, having a large number of high-quality backlinks can help to improve your website’s search engine rankings.
In this guide, I will explore various strategies and techniques that I use to acquire backlinks, including guest blogging, broken link building, infographics, resource pages, directories, and listings.
Additionally, I will discuss common mistakes to avoid and provide best practices with examples. I will also show you how to use YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp to build backlinks.
By implementing these strategies and techniques, you can improve your website’s search engine rankings and increase visibility for your website.

STEP 1: SEO; BUILD BACKLINKS BY OPTIMIZING FOR SEARCH ENGINES (SEO)
Because it’s the search engines that will present your content to your potential reader, you have to make your content indexable by the robots that crawl billions of sites.
This is so that your site can be indexed, and ranked according to the content on them.
Keyword Optimization:
A good way to start building the right backlinks is to make sure your site has keywords relevant to the overall content and must be what your audience will be searching for.
Research your keywords properly to come up with relevant ones. When done right, it can lead to organic backlinks as other websites may link to your site because they find it helpful.
DO ON-PAGE OPTIMIZATION:
While great content is good, it will do little good if it is structured poorly. Pay attention to the tags, mobile friendliness, and speed. As well as your categories.
CONTENT MARKETING:
If you have great content, you can drive traffic to your site by doing a bit of content marketing. All you have to do is create high-quality content that solves problems and is informative.
Make it relevant to your audience and encourage your target audience to share your content with their social media contacts.
STEP 2: USE PAID ADVERTISING TO GENERATE QUALITY BACKLINKS
Running ads on Google or social media platforms can drive targeted traffic to a website.
I used this when I first started my site.
If you have affiliate links on your site, it is a good idea to boost your traffic through paid ads. Then when your site gains some organic traffic, you can discontinue the approach of paid traffic as this tends to be expensive.
STEP 3: SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING FOR CREATING QUALITY BACKLINKS
Social media platforms like Facebook are growing more and more in popularity. And millions of people are using them daily.
Using it to promote your website and interact with your potential customers can help drive traffic.
You can create Pages and groups to engage with your followers more and connect with them. When done correctly, a single viral and helpful content can have a wide reach and is cheaper than paid traffic.
As a beginner, you may not have all the resources to build a great and engaging Facebook group. What you can do is join existing popular groups.
Make sure you read their rules to avoid being banned. Once you have signed up for a couple of these pages and groups, do the following:
- Go ahead and post great content on those groups and pages. When appropriate add links back to your site.
- Read the rules of each page to avoid being banned
- Share your posts with similar groups
- Engage with other creators by commenting on other people’s posts.
- When appropriate, add a link, especially if you have an article or a post that answers an ongoing question.
- Post consistently
- Have a content calendar
STEP 4: USE INFLUENCER MARKETING AS A GOOD SOURCE OF BACKLINKS
Collaborating with influencers in your industry can help you promote your website to a wider audience.
There are virtually good influencers in almost every niche.
While the thought of leveraging influencers may appear overwhelming. There are a few tactics to get a good influencer to promote your website.
Below are some of the best and most practical ways to get an influencer:
- Use Hashtags on your social media posts.
- Utilize the influencer marketing outreach available all over the web.
- Get influencers from Linkedin: Linkedin is a social media platform for business and professional people. Sign up or log into it and start connecting. Almost all our writers on this website are Linkedin users. You can connect with me on Linkedin for a start.
- Get influencers using YouTube to promote your site. They may have to add your URL to the description of their videos. We will talk more about YouTube later.
STEP 5: INCREASE YOUR BACKLINK BUILDING WITH EMAIL MARKETING
Newcomers to the web always forget this part until it is almost too late. Building an email list and regularly sending newsletters can help drive repeat traffic back to your website.
Start by creating valuable content, and add a freebie. This could be an eBook or access to a cherished or newly discovered secret.
The idea here is to increase the possibility of your audience signing up for your email list.
When they do, you will continually send them repeat emails, sometimes to notify your audience of your latest articles, promotions, updates, and any relevant information that will bring them back to your site.
STEP 6: GUEST BLOGGING
This is one of my favorites. Search and look out for great websites you can write for and tap from their audience. If you have what it takes, then write a guest blog for this website.
Here is how it works:
You look out for quality websites related to your niche. Pitch the owners of the site asking if you can write a post for them in exchange for a link back to your site.
On the surface that is how it works. But there is a whole lot of art and skill involved with getting a webmaster to write for.
The question I often get is: will they be willing to cross-link with me? The simple answer is that if your content is great, and your website is awesome, they will be happy to publish your content.
If you are wondering how to create great content in no time both for your site and your guest blogging effort, make sure you read this article: HOW TO CREATE 2000 WORDS ENGAGING CONTENT IN 30 MINUTES.
This takes us to the next one, which is broken link-building
STEP 7: GET BACKLINKS FROM BROKEN LINK
This is simply the process of Scouting the entire internet looking for websites on your niche with broken links within their articles. When you do find a website, look for the broken links in their various articles create a nice article to fulfill the need for those links, and offer a replacement to the webmasters. Below are tools to help you check for broken links.
TOOLS FOR BACKLINK BUILDING THROUGH BROKEN LINKS
Several tools can be used to search for broken links on other websites in your industry and help you find opportunities for broken link building. Some of these tools include:
- Ahrefs: This tool allows you to see the total number of backlinks a website has, the number of broken links, and the number of referring domains.
- Check My Links: Check My Links is a Chrome extension that allows you to check for broken links on a webpage by simply clicking on the extension icon. It quickly highlights the broken links in red.
- Dead Link Checker: A free online tool that can be used to check for broken links on any website. It can check up to 3000 pages per website and it also reports the error code of the broken links.
- Broken Link Checker: This free online tool checks for broken links on any site of your choice, and provides detailed information on each broken link.

With the above tool, you can identify broken links on other websites in your industry. Then reach out to the website owner and offer to replace the broken link with a link to your website.
STEP 8: INFOGRAPHIC
Infographic is an information represented in a visual format. This is a helpful way to create backlinks to your website.
Infographics can be so simple that they can be done with a single thought, a couple of sentences, or even just a picture. There are great tools to create infographics. One of my favorites is Canva, with the free version you can create as many infographics as you want
While creating your infographics, pay attention to the following:
- Your audience: define your audience so that your infographic can have the most effect
- Know what you want to achieve with your infographic: Do you want your audience to click through, and take any action, or do you simply want to educate? Make it clear in the message so that the desired action will be carried out.
- Choose the best infographic for your intended medium and audience. If you are creating a downloadable, maybe a PDF or will do, or GIF. Whatever will be best for your audience is what should be created.
- Depending on your information, make it very logical and easy to understand.
STEP 9: RESOURCE PAGES
This is another way to build backlinks to your site. Look at the resource pages on other websites, social media handles, or business pages and reach out to the owners of the sites. To be successful with this, it is best to offer a complimentary article to what they already have on their site.
For example, if you see a website dealing with weight loss through exercise, you can offer an article on massagers for weight loss. In this way, the webmaster will have a compelling reason to consider your offer.
STEP 10: DIRECTORIES AND LISTINGS
To create backlinks, submit your website to online directories and listings relevant to your industry. For example: if your website is about a specific location-based service, such as “carpet cleaning in London,” you can submit it to online directories such as “London Business Directory” or “Top Carpet Cleaners in London”. This will help your website appear in the search results when someone is searching for “carpet cleaning in London.
Back in the day, Ezinarticle used to be the go-to place for this. But recently, they no longer accept articles. However, here are some alternatives you should explore:
- Articlecity.com
- Ideamarketers
- GoArticles.com
- Articleworld.net

I sometimes use QUORA as good SEO research too. You can create a question, go ahead, and provide valuable answers with a link pointing back at your site.
It’s important to test and measure these strategies’ effectiveness. And continually look for new ways to drive traffic to the website.
STEP 12: SNIPLY

It shortens your link and allows you to overlay your own message, like “Visit ZYX site for more” or any message or call to action of your choice. This can then be seen on any web page and serves as a way to drive traffic back to your own site.

Bear in mind that creating high-quality, informative videos that are relevant to your target audience is crucial to driving traffic to your website.

However, WhatsApp can still be used to drive traffic to a website indirectly. For example, you can use WhatsApp to communicate with your audience and promote your website or new content on your website.
You can use WhatsApp to share a link to your website or a link to a new blog post on your website with your followers; this way, they can access your website by clicking on the link.

COMMON MISTAKES TO AVOID IN LINK-BUILDING
- Link buying: Avoid this at all costs. When you buy links, you are in essence attempting to manipulate and deceive the search engine rankings. This alone can result in penalties.
- Stay away from link farms: This is a collection of sites engaging in gross cross-linking. The links to each other are in an attempt to manipulate search engines.
- As much as possible, avoid using exact-match anchor text.
- Do not patronize shady SEO services, they will hurt your overall ranking with Google.
- As much as possible, put low-value links as no-follow.
- Repetitively and needlessly linking to the same web page does not necessarily add to your link value.
- Avoid link spamming.
- Neglecting internal link-building
- Bonus point; Never rush your link-building efforts.
BACKLINK BUILDING BEST PRACTICE
- Keep track of your backlinks using tools like AHrefs, SEMrush, and the like to ensure you are investing your time and resources into acquiring quality backlinks.
- Diversify: acquire links from multiple sources including social media, directories, and websites.
- Concentrate on building quality backlinks from quality sites with great content.
- Another best practice when building backlinks is to focus on creating valuable and high-quality content that other websites will want to link to.
- This can include blog posts, infographics, videos, and other forms of content that are informative and useful to your target audience.
- Promote your content and reach out to other websites in your industry, offering to share your content in exchange for a link back to your website.
- Building relationships with other websites in your industry is a habit you will need as a webmaster. This can include reaching out to other website owners and offering to collaborate on content or share each other’s content on social media. Building relationships with other websites in your industry can help increase the chances of acquiring backlinks from these websites.
- Finally, it’s important to be patient when building backlinks. Backlink building is a long-term strategy, and it can take time to see results.
It’s also important to continue building backlinks over time to maintain and improve your search engine rankings.
In summary, backlink building is an important part of SEO and can help improve the search engine rankings of your website. Some of the best practices have been discussed above. But there are a few more ways you can get ahead of the curve, and I am sharing them below.
